Holy macaroni.

HOLY MACARONI!

Man. The love that has filled my inbox and DM’s for this book is just…well…it’s beyond my wildest expectations. The reviews coming in and the tags on social with readers thoughts…are crazy-amazing. Mindblowing.

When you write a book that readers really love such as HER or The Social Affair…as a writer you always kind of wonder whether or not you can top that. Sometimes it feels like a lot of pressure because every story is as unique as readers tastes. The truth is you never really know how they’ll land.

So when Apple Books wrote to say…“Congrats on the release of Room 553. Wanted to let you know that we’re featuring it on the mysteries and thrillers page of Apple Books.”

It was a bit dizzying. You see, we decorate our house with relics of old Macintosh’s. That’s not really a joke. I was a fan of Apple long before it was cool. I have fond memories of sitting in front of those lovely boxy things for hours playing Oregon Trail growing up. If you’d told me that someday I’d write a book (or fourteen) and that the company who provided those fond memories would write to me to say they were featuring that book in their store, I would have believed it. Because when you’re a kid, you can do anything. 😊

Maybe, it turns out, when you’re a grown-up too.

I have you guys to thank for that.

What early readers are saying:

“For the love of all things good and crazy!!!! This book!!!!!!!!! When I first started reading it I wasn’t sure I would like it. Something about it didn’t sit well with me. BUT I have never been let down by one of Britney’s books, so I kept going and oh my goodness gracious!!! Just when I thought I had it figured out, NOPE NOPE, she went and threw in a little something extra to make me go back and try to find the signs! All I’m saying is what comes around goes around and man did it!!! Always be prepared and ready for anything! So good!!” —Goodreads reviewer

“WOW!!! First, Britney you really outdid yourself. I thought HER was OMG but with Room 553 I never saw the twist coming and what an ending. This book is told from the two main characters. One is Dr. Max Hastings and the other is Laurel Dunaway’s journal. It goes back and forth with each chapter revolving on the two main characters. This book at first is a slow burn, but knowing Britney and her books now, I knew I was in store for something incredible and outrageous. And as usual, she did not disappoint me at all. In fact, if you like major psychological thrillers, then I highly recommend Britney King. Her books almost are diabolical but truly fascinating. I absolutely loved this book and all the twists and turns especially even in the epilogue. Again, read this book if you are a fan of this genre.” — Goodreads reviewer
