Something eerie is going on

Good and Gone

Hello from Texas,

Looking for a new, thrilling book to read? I get it! Doesn’t everyone want a new page-turner???

Reading is always better when you can lose yourself in another world, and that’s exactly what you’ll get with Good and Gone. With a plot that is constantly twisting and turning, you won’t be able to put it down.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. Take theirs:

Favorite Quotes:

But life will go on. We like to think we are special, but in the grand scheme of things? We’re not.

The corners of his eyes are folded in like origami boxes about to pop open with a new thing inside. If a face could conjure the sound of shattering glass, or the scent of dawn on a wintery day, Tyler’s would be the one that did it best.

My Review: This artfully cunning trickster has sucked me into another of her crafty tales with her unique blend of realistically creepy chicanery that kept me on edge. I was nibbling on my lips and tugging at my cuticles the entire way through. I will also confess that I was so caught up in her tale I might have been holding my breath a few times as well. Ms. King’s writing is bewitchingly compelling while also tense, itchy, and prone to prickle my skin. Her authentic tales usually involve complicit corruption and something diabolically horrible happening which results in the need to exact vigilante revenge. Their reprisal is at once satisfying yet bittersweet. What does it say about me that I’m always rooting for them to get away with it?

BK, what are you 𝑑𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 to me with this plot theme?! What an originally unique storyline!

And that prologue! Wow—talk about starting off with a captivating hook! Intense right off the bat, and it doesn’t slow down—not for a single minute. King has written another pulse-pounding, daring psychological thriller that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat right up until the very end.

With dual first-person POVs that put you right there in the action, King is absolutely at the top of her game with her latest psychological thriller. And let me tell you—the narration was nothing short of pure perfection—the emotion was practically dripping off the pages. I especially loved the chapters narrated by John Doe—they were sinister and unnerving in the best way. I couldn’t get enough!

The more I think about it, the more I think that Good and Gone just might be Britney King’s best book yet! I was completely enveloped in the story and, as usual, once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I literally can’t talk about basically any of the plot for fear of spoilers, but I CAN tell you that this was a well-crafted, and twisty ride and I didn’t see any of the twists or turns coming. I do have to say that I don’t think I would have known Hailey was a fitness influencer if I hadn’t seen it in the synopsis, although the fitness part wasn’t entirely necessary to understand what was going on. The important thing to note was that she was an influencer with lots of followers and lots of eyes on her at any given time, which in turn made her a target.

Good and Gone has a dark storyline, but at the same time King doesn’t go into too many details, so this would still be a good choice for readers that can’t handle too much gore. The pacing is just right, and there is more than enough to the story to keep things interesting. At first, I really had no idea what was going on and I couldn’t wait to see how things would turn out. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, and it was a very fresh plot and storyline which I loved. I was also really satisfied with the ending and enjoyed reading from 3 different viewpoints throughout. I loved getting both Hailey’s and Tyler’s viewpoints especially, and King expertly and seamlessly tied them together. I highly recommend picking up Good and Gone if you are in the mood to support an amazing indie author and want something quick and enthralling!

“It feels like I’m riding a seesaw on the edge of a cliff, like things could go either way.”

Good and Gone by Britney King is not just a psychological thriller but a psychological thriller par excellence! While the above quote from the book was not intended to refer to the reader, it is a perfect description of my emotions and thoughts from the prologue to the final page. The action and suspense are non-stop throughout the book. Even the last page leaves the reader pondering potential future events.

Hailey Adams, a mother and social media influencer, is a worthy addition to the long list of intense, engaging, and multi-faceted female protagonists created by Britney King in her novels. Hailey’s husband, Tyler, also becomes an interesting and complex character who adds focus and perspective to the events that ensue as the plot develops and thickens.

It was part of Hailey’s daily routine to go for an early morning jog. But one morning, she goes jogging and never returns. Weeks pass without Hailey being sighted. Given her extensive social media following, there is rampant online speculation as to whether or not she was faking her abduction. Was she kidnapped? Or did Hailey stage her disappearance? Was her husband responsible for Hailey’s disappearance? Or is he an accomplice in a ruse by Hailey for social media attention?

Several weeks later, Hailey turns up many miles from her home. However, she does not seem to have a clear, complete, or reliable recollection of what happened to her. Many on social media and the police speculate that Hailey is lying. Hailey says that she vaguely recalls being drugged and tortured by her captors. But Hailey has many gaps in her story. Is she lying, or is she just an innocent victim suffering from mental and physical torture?

If Hailey is an innocent victim, is she an isolated case? Or are there larger conspiracies yet to be revealed? Continuing further down this speculation line would constitute a “spoiler.”

As is the style for several of Brittney King’s previous books, some chapters are written from Hailey’s perspective, and others from Tyler’s. Several chapters are written from the perspective of a “John Doe,” who is not identified until later in the book.

For Britney King, the hits keep on coming! I loved Good and Gone. It is another solid 5-star psychological thriller for Ms. King’s impressive portfolio.

A clever-plotted psychological thriller loaded with dark suspense. The disturbing prologue roped me in and kept me flipping pages. Once you start reading, it’s hard to put down!

Britney King’s writing is incredibly easy to get addicted to. If you haven’t read her yet, you’re missing out! This novel is written from several perspectives, including one character initially known only as John Doe. Hailey is a busy mother, who has more on her plate than she can comfortably handle, like a lot of mothers. She’s a social media influencer who finds out how fickle some followers can be when her opinion doesn’t live up to their expectations. And an unpopular post begins a tumultuous chain of events.

Wow, just Wow. Britney King is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints. This story starts with what looks like a suicide and explodes from there. I felt like I was right there with the relatable characters who showed such strength and bravery. My heart was pounding throughout. I only put it down when I had to, and I was thinking about it even then. Be prepared to lose sleep as you keep turning the pages. This author has a diabolical mind that keeps me wanting more. I look forward to each book she produces. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that you can’t put down, Good and Gone is a definite must-read.

What a great and intense psychological thriller. This read is so intense and real! I felt all of Hailey’s pain. I felt Tyler’s frustration. I felt Lily’s fright. I couldn’t put it down. Action-packed. No dull moments from the gripping prologue till the amazing end. If you can call it the end. My mind is still reeling with future thoughts for this family. So good. Don’t miss out.

Wowser. Wowser. She’s done it again!

They say you should never judge a book by its cover, but if it says Britney King on the cover you can guarantee that it’s going to be one almighty great read. She is the ultimate storyteller, one of the best you will find anywhere. For me THE best.

What makes me say this? Where should I start? The characters are so well-developed. The storyline is so created outside the usual boxes used by others. The twists are awesome. You don’t expect them and if you think you spot one coming, it still hits you from a different direction than you could imagine. Yes, simply the best. (I know I’ve said that before, but facts are facts).

The subject matter isn’t for every reader, but it’s a psychological thriller, and it is exactly that. It will keep you on the edge of whatever seat you’re on. Again, she’s the best, so expect the unexpected. The characters are totally in line with their part of the plot and the role they fulfill at the time. That’s part of the magic, the special quality of Britney’s writing. This is a thriller from a writer that just gets better every time. She’s way beyond 5 stars for me, but I’m sure you’re going to find that for yourself.

The storyline is set out in the description, but the thrill of the ride is the fear. Well, that’s what you get to experience when you read this master class of a psychological thriller. It’s a classic in my opinion, and I’m sure I’m right about this one.

No wonder she’s been referred to as the Diamond of Texas.
