One of the most beautiful notes I’ve ever received…

Today, I’m sharing one of the most beautiful notes I’ve ever received. I’ve been hesitant to do so as it feels very personal to me. However, this one came at a time I really needed it…so, I decided to pull the trigger, thinking someone else might need it too. Life has a way of working that way. Also, man oh man, have I gotten some incredible, deeply heartfelt notes lately. Currently, my response time is running about 6-8 weeks out but I can’t say enough how honored and humbled I am by the way readers are generous enough to reach out and share what my stories meant to them. Thank you.

Dear Britney,

You mentioned that you enjoy connecting with your readers.

I’m a 71-year-old male. I seldom read women authors (they are mostly
too detailed for my taste). I seldom read romances. I seldom read
psychological thrillers. But I did read “Bedrock”. And I DID enjoy it
and am now reading “Breaking Bedrock”.

The reason I decided to email you is because of one passage:

“It was the little things she missed the most. The texts, the phone
calls, the understanding that there was another person who had shared
goals and interests; knowing that person was going to come home at the
end of the day, and later in the dark, when you were most vulnerable,
they’d curl their body into yours, letting you know where you belong.”

I realize it is speaking of Patrick who is living in China, but it did
relate to my situation also.

My wife died in February of this year and as I’ve worked through
living without her after 48 years of marriage I’ve found it difficult
to find verbiage that expresses the emotions that I am going through.
That passage helped give me words to describe some of the emotions
that I try to explain to people that ask me, “How are you doing?”

I just wanted to say thanks,

L

P.S. I’m also very honored that Apple has named Bedrock one of @iBooks Bestselling Romance. Read it for 99¢, this week only. apple.co/bestsellingromance

P.S.S. Bedrock is for sure more of a romantic thriller than straight up romance, so if you’re big on rules in the love department, read the reviews before diving in.
