One of the loveliest notes I’ve ever received…

“In every seduction, romantic or otherwise, there are two elements one must evaluate and understand: first, yourself and what is seductive about you; and second, your mark and what it will take to penetrate their defenses and create surrender.” — Britney King, The Replacement Wife

Below you’ll find another of my favorite notes, a short email exchange between a reader and I. One I’ve been meaning to post for some time. First of all, he was so respectful and so thoughtful.

Secondly, what a gentleman…I don’t even know what to say except that the world needs so much more of this. Also, I feel like Jude (WUTB) would be proud.

Lastly, to answer an FAQ, yes, the signed copy tab has disappeared from my website. Long story short, my current release schedule meant paring this down. I hear you guys and because it makes me happy to make you happy, I will do my best to open up shop for signed copies once or twice a year in the future. In the meantime, this one was a request I just couldn’t say no to. 🙂

Ma’am,

A good friend of mine and I just read Water Under the Bridge together and loved it. We are both in the USAF, stationed in (redacted). I am a welder and she works on aircraft. We work in the same sub-shop and read the same books in our downtime. I’m not huge into what the actual literary terms are and honestly, she is a bigger fan of romance/thriller novels than I’ve ever been, but the way it was written directly from the characters perspectives and the flipping back and forth between viewpoints really hooked me. I think it was a wonderful book and I’ve ordered us both the next book. However, I also ordered a physical copy of the first book for her and I was wondering if you had signings in Austin or if there was a way to somehow get you to sign it.

It would make her day if I were able to somehow get the physical copy signed.
Even if you can’t I loved the book and can’t wait to finish the series.
With respect,
G.H.

Dear G.H.,

Thank you for such a kind email. I would love to send some signed copies (on me) to gift to her. Please let me know where to send them.

Consider it a small way of saying thank you for serving our country and for doing something nice for a friend. You sound like a very thoughtful person and she is lucky to have you.
I appreciate you reading my work and thank you again for reaching out. Your note is truly now a favorite of mine.

Sincerely,
Britney

Ma’am,

That is honestly so much more than I was expecting.
Thank you so much for this and for your continued writing!

Respectfully,
G.H.

It was so kind of you to offer to send your books to him. There’s never enough that we can do for those who wear the uniform.

I agree Steve. Thanks for reading.
